Timber Creek’s art department, specifically Mikaela Jaros’ class, is participating in a Vans Custom Shoe Design competition where the students create their own shoe designs.
To participate in this exclusive contest, schools all sign up, but only the first 2,000 schools actually get the chance to participate.
When chosen, each school gets four pairs of different types of all white VANS to style and produce their own designs.
In Jaros’ art class, students then had to turn a rough draft of their shoe designs they would create if chosen and were then put in groups of “Vans teams.” Twelve were chosen and put into teams of four per pair of shoes.
Each pair has their own design theme — music, action sports, local flavor, and art — as well as having a common theme of “steam punk” between all 4 pairs.
The students have been working non-stop to finish this project by the deadline and also to do their best to attempt to win the $50,000 which would benefit Timber Creek’s art department.
“It would be really cool to start a scholarship fund with this money; also, to get Timber Creek their own Mac cart and even our own 3D printer,” said Jaros.
They are to submit photos and videos of their final shoe designs to VANS by their deadline of 5 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2016.
