colorguard yearbook

The Timber Creek Color Guard spins flags and props during the halftime shows at the football games, working with the marching band all summer and competing in the fall. Anyone can try out for the group, whether you’ve been dancing for years or have no experience at all.

If you are interested in being a part of the color guard, now is your chance. They will be holding audition clinics on April 25, 26, and 27, 2016 at 4:30-6:30 p.m. with auditions on April 28 which start at 4:30 p.m. Auditions and clinics will be held in the band hall or in the cafeteria.

All audition material will be taught in the clinics; again, no experience is necessary to audition. Information packets are available in the counseling office, in the band hall, or at www.timbercreekband.org. A parent information meeting will be held this Thursday, April 21 at 7 p.m. in the band hall.

Be sure to be present in all of the clinics to learn the audition material. Applicants will audition in groups of four, and arrange to stay for the entire audition period as results will be posted approximately 30 minutes after auditions are complete.

Color guard counts as a P.E. and a Fine Arts Credit. By trying out for the color guard, you will learn how to spin flag, rifle and sabre. You will also learn ballet, jazz, and modern dance techniques. If you do make the group, you will be responsible to attend all practices, games, performances, and contests. You will also be informed of a few night rehearsals before the end of the school year. Summer guard practices will be held in the month of July while summer full band camp starts on July 28 and continues until the first day of school.

Visit www.timbercreekband.org to view the calendar for football games, contests, and practice times (when they become available on May 1). Fees will be discussed at the parent information meeting on April 21 at 7 p.m.
