With a rallying cry of #JustWin and an opponent they’re familiar with, Timber Creek Softball continues to make history and head into round five of the playoffs.
Now the Falcons will take on the Keller Indians in single game on Friday, May 27 at 7:30 p.m at Chisholm Trail High School (3100 NW College Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76179).
In case of rain, a second time, Saturday, May 28 at 10 a.m. has been arranged. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for students.
Whoever wins the game heads to State.
Varsity softball swept a two game series against Frenship High School on May 20 and 21, 2016, during the regional semi-finals for 6A UIL Softball playoffs.
The Falcons were able to win Saturday, May 21’s Game 2 to clench the series, then sped home to attend Timber Creek’s Prom later that night.
“It was incredibly stressful and tiring trying to get ready and get there in time, but it was great that we won in two games and didn’t have to go to three!” shortstop Avery Grimes told the Talon.
Strong performances from Timber’s Mady Lohman netted her a nomination for Player of the Week from sportswriter Brian Gossett on Twitter, which she later won by popular vote.
Keller finished in first place in the district before advancing to the playoffs — and they’ve beaten TC twice this season. Still, the Falcons are looking forward to the next games.
“I’m very excited to get on the dirt again,” outfielder Casey Akers told the Talon.
Vanessa Alonzo echoed that excitement and gave some perspective on the upcoming matchups.
“We just gotta take it one game at a time. Anything can happen,” Alonzo told the Talon.
And if you ask Avery Grimes, the familiar Keller Indians are just the next step in a march to the State Playoffs.
“We know how they play, obviously, so we just have to prepare this week and do everything we can to stay on top and get to state!” Grimes told Talon.
