TCHS track season came to an exciting close with two students, Elise Hodges and Malique Williams, doing very well at the state competition.
Hodges threw a 38’9 in shot-put and a 128’10 in discus placing fifth in both events.
Williams jumped a 23’4 to place second in long jump.
While these alone are impressive numbers, they aren’t the best that these two have done all year. For the season Hodges threw a record 41’6.5 in shot-put and a record 136’4 in discus, and Williams jumped a record 23’10 ¾.
It is a big deal to be recognized as one of the top competitors in the state of Texas, and both Williams and Hodges will be remembered as a couple of the greatest athletes to attend Timber Creek since it has opened.
“It feels pretty good I suppose considering it’s my first time doing it to get that far,” Williams says. He plans to attend PVAMU and continue his very successful football career.
“It was an honor, to be honest. A lot of people didn’t even make the meet, so the fact that I even had the privilege of going in both events was a blessing,” Hodges said. “I’m just thankful I had the opportunity to compete.”
She plans to get an education at the University of Oklahoma and continue her athletic career by walking on to the track program at said university.
