The Timber Creek High School Swim Sprint Invitational meet on Sept. 24 was a big success with the TCHS combined swimming team taking third place with 142.5 points.

This meet was not a normal meet because it didn’t have the original events a swimming match must have, but the meet allowed the incoming freshmen and seasoned swimmers to show what they can do.

The women’s team ranked fifth while the men’s team made top three, ranking third.

In the girls 50-yard freestyle, Senior Elaina Allen scored 7th place out of 113 girls followed by Karoline Austin who made 38th. Elaina Allen also scored highest out of the TCHS girl swim team in the 50-yard butterfly and 100 yard freestyle with 11th and sixth place. Timber Creek’s highest place in the Girls 50 yard backstroke was 42nd by Bristol Putney making a final time of 35.11 seconds. Josie Gunn and Serena Shabout claimed eighth and 10th place in the Girls 50-yard breaststroke, earning 7.5 points to their team.

In the boys individual swimming events, TCHS’ Kamron Gopffarth achieved seventh and eighth in the boys 50-yard freestyle and boys 50-yard backstroke. Drew A McDonnell was awarded eighth and 12th place in the boys 50-yard breaststroke and boys 50-yard butterfly, gaining up to six points in those two events. Pierce Phrasavath followed closely behind in the 50 yard breaststroke, behind McDonnell with 10th place.

The relays awarded TCHS many points, giving the TCHS girls team seventh place and the boys third place in the 200-yard freestyle relay. In the 200-yard medley relay, girls jumped down to ninth while the boys delivered fifth place in the event.

Timber Creek’s swimming team is very excited for their first dual meeting, competing with Haltom and Richland. It will happen at the KISD Natatorium on Thursday, Oct. 13. The meet will start at 6 p.m. Also on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the same location, the TCHS swim group will be at a Keller invite meet at 9 a.m.
