Timber Creek High School has become a community that promotes the value of every student and faculty member. Through encouragement from our new principal Mr.Bartlett and programs like Student Council and NHS’ Project BeYOUtiful, we have grown from a school into a family. Consequently, because of Project BeYOUtiful’s success earlier this year, the National Honor Society is having a fundraiser that emphasizes those same ideas of self-love and confidence.
NHS members will be selling the lollipops for $1 starting Wednesday, March 1 until April 5, 2017. The money that results from the fundraiser will go to the Safe Haven of Tarrant County. President Claire Gustafson of NHS discussed how the idea came to be.
“We started the idea for the lollipops with Project BeYOUtiful and all the positivity that that spread throughout the school, so we decided to go along with that and sell lollipops for a battered women’s shelter,” Gustafson explains. “We want to make sure that everyone feels love and that everyone feels like they matter, so our slogan is ‘Make Your Personality Pop.'”
Get it, lollipop? The goal of this fundraiser is to, while raising money for the shelter, promote confidence in your own personality and spread positivity once again throughout the school.
“If you want to buy your friend a lollipop then make their personality pop, or buy yourself one if you need some more self-confidence,” Gustafson elaborated.
We want to continue the wave of positivity that arrived early this year, and show our students that they are important, loved, and can be themselves without fear of judgement, if not everywhere, than at least here at Timber Creek.
