On Friday, Sept. 9, the Timber Creek Falcons took on the Azle Hornets at Keller ISD stadium. The tone of the game being set during the very first play, Quarterback Dylan McCrary heaved up a pass to Wide Receiver Erik Ezukanma, passing the Azle Cornerback with ease as Ezukanma showed his speed in the open field as he took the ball to the house, 68 yards, giving the Falcons a seven point lead. Overall  by the Falcons in a shutout loss of 30-0, Azle goes down 0-2 while the Falcons improve 2-0, with the team hoping to continue winning throughout this season, as players like McCrary hope to continue their success.

“I thought we played exceptionally well,” said McCary. “There were minor things that we can continue to sharpen as the year goes…[but overall] the offense played great, and Blake Irving had some great runs. Defense played an unbelievable game, only allowing [about] 60 yards of offense, and holding [Azle] to a shutout…they kept us going the entire game.”

The Falcons showed dominance in the air, with McCrary racking up 189 passing yards, in 24 attempts, Ezukanma led the Receivers in receptions, with ten receptions, for 137 yards, and three touchdowns. The Falcons run game had another fantastic game, lead by Irving, who had 19 carries for 120 yards, with one touchdown.

“As of right now, I believe the season is going to be great,” McCrary said. “…We continue to strive and makes great leaps on defense and offense…the Timber Creek program put in a lot of hard work, [and] we’re excited to see it unfold this fall.”

The Falcons take on Flower Mound away on Friday, Sept. 15.
