Stage West, a professional theatre company, is having their annual Neighborhood Play Contest, and they are inviting students from the North Texas region to tell their stories to the world on stage in spring of 2018.
This exciting opportunity gives students who are interested in playwriting and/or acting the chance to stage and perform events from their personal lives as a play. Some of the suggested sample themes include culture, family, social issues, and life struggles or accomplishments.
The participants can tell their stories as dramas, which include dialogue and stage directions, and must be 10-15 pages. They also have the option to write a poem, monologue, or two to three page story in narrative form.
Stage West will select 18 theatrical productions to be performed at the Festival of the Kid in May.
Students must be enrolled as a K-12 student within the North Central Texas area to be able to compete. Entries are due on Dec. 19, and they must be postmarked or delivered to 823 W. Vickery Blvd, Fort Worth, TX 76104. Label the envelope with the word contest.
