Junior volleyball player Anna Thomas looks towards this game as another opportunity to demonstrate the team’s training. The team has spent the past few months practicing in hopes of advancing to playoffs.
“Our season has been quite exciting-we’ve had ups and downs, but overall I think we have started to mesh well together on and off the court,” said Thomas. “Last year’s team probably had the same skill level, but I don’t think the chemistry was quite there all the time. We are a younger team this year, but the upperclassmen and underclassmen get along well, which fosters a positive attitude on the court.”
With the team’s sixth district game on Friday, Sept. 29 against Fossil Ridge, Thomas hopes that their game against Haltom will serve as an easy win and good preparation for Friday night’s match up. Competing for third place in districts currently, Thomas anticipates a win against Fossil Ridge. The team continues persevering in the second round of districts, moving into second or third place overall.
“We aren’t the tallest team, so we have constantly worked on smart plays and being able to use our shots in order to compensate,” said Thomas. “Weatherford and Keller will definitely be our toughest opponents coming up. [For the Haltom game,] we will probably get to try some new things, but we can’t take it lightly because you never know what might happen.”
