National Novel Writing Month, the worldwide event that inspires writers to create an entire book in a single month began Nov. 1 and continues until 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 30.
In order to inspire students to take part in this activity, Nona Kummell has decided to leave her classroom, C118, open Tuesdays and Thursdays after school until the end of the month, providing a quiet place for students to write as much as they can from 3:45 – 5:00 p.m. Mrs. Kummell teaches English and Creative Writing, so she adores all that NaNoWriMo strives to accomplish and encourages all her students to achieve the 50,000 word goal.
“National Novel Writing Month believes in the transformational power of creativity,” sates the official NaNoWriMo website. “We provide the structure, community, and encouragement to help people find their voices, achieve creative goals, and build new worlds—on and off the page.”
Thousands of people participate in this annual writing extravaganza, eager for the moment they type that final word and feel the stunning accomplishment of completing their novel wash over them. All creative writers, whether you are looking toward a career in writing or simply enjoy the art of literature, are welcome to join Mrs. Kummell in her classroom as they take part in NaNoWriMo and write the 50,000 words by November’s end.
