With five senior student-athletes from basketball, track, swimming and golf, the Timber Creek High School Spring Signing took place on Wednesday, April 11, at 3 p.m. during fifth period.

Choosing the college that they would attend and continue both their education and their athletic careers, the athletes have signed with several different schools to pursue their futures. For senior Josie Gunn, who signed that morning at swim team practice, signing was a reminder of how her love and commitment to her sport, through the thick and the thin.

“I signed with [King University in Bristol, Tennessee], because I fell in love with the people, the town, and the school,” said Gunn. “Honestly I love swimming, even when I’m not doing well. I have a strange love-hate relationship with the sport.”

Signing their letters of intent in the main gym, other athletes, such as Walter Reed, hope to continue their athletic careers while also contributing towards his perfect vision for his future, individually aspiring to pursue a career in Kinesiology while also running and competing with the best, motivated by his parents, Coach Dan Strong, and his supportive teammates, all helping him to achieve his goals and get through the “rough patches”.

I chose central Arkansas because it felt like home away from home and the track team was really welcoming so I felt like it was the best fit for me,” said Reed. “My love for the sport has driven to stay dedicated over the years…I would like to use my athletic talents to inspire others to chase after their dreams and know that anything they put their mind to they can do.”
