The Timber Creek Varsity Girls wrestling team overcame significant struggles to capture their back-to-back Regional Championship and will take five female wrestlers and one male to the state meet this week.
Coach Jayson Conger said this year’s championship win was the result of hard work and dedication from the wrestlers following injuries and unexpected losses.
The five girls who wrestled to become back-to-back Regional Team Champions included:
Junior Chalimar Rodriguez-Roman who placed second in the 95lbs weight class
Senior Jude Miller who placed second in the 138lbs weight class
Junior Joylynn Wegman who placed fourth in the 148lbs weight class
Senior Bianca Rosales who placed first in the 185lbs weight class
Junior Daya Powell who placed third in the 215lbs weight class
Senior William Burch placed third in the 145lbs weight class and also will advance to the state meet.
Timber Creek will host a send off for the wrestlers on Feb. 21, 2019 at 9 a.m. in the cafeteria to cheer the team on to victory this weekend.
