After years of making it to the playoffs, the women’s soccer team hopes to make another postseason appearance with their new squad. The team has high hopes to push through this tough district, and come out victorious.
This year, the team’s mindset is “3FL,” Coach Mike King says. “3FL” stands for fast, furious, fun and loud; which is the Lady Falcon’s main focus going into district. King also said that another focal point is “getting back to the playoffs and making the longest run into the playoffs in TC history.”
“The team’s mindset for the season is to work together as a team for our overall goal of playoffs,” Ashlyn Brakemeier, a Junior right back, said. Brakemeier has been on varsity since she was a freshman and is “pumped” to see growth this season.
On the field, the chemistry between the players is absolutely vital. Luckily, the players are prepared, and have been bonding all pre-season.
“I’m very excited to see all of my players play! They’ve all put in so much hard work together and this is the best and closest team we’ve ever had with the best leaders,” King exclaimed. After almost 11 years of coaching at Timber Creek, King is able to decipher that this years squad is the best in Timber Creek soccer history.
“In the past, we haven’t had the chemistry that we are showing already at the start of our season,” Brakemeier agreed. “Everyone’s work ethic and attitude is already looking to pay off.”
In pre-season, the team worked extremely hard in hopes of more wins and a spot in the post-season.
“One word to describe our preseason is breakthrough,” Brakemeier said. “After our season last year and missing playoff by one goal, this pre-season has been huge for us.” After a loss to Southlake Carroll last season, the team was shook up, and left the season feeling disappointed.
This year’s women’s soccer team will be extremely fun to watch on the field, so the team hopes to #FillTheNest. On January 14, the Lady Falcons will be playing at home versus Arlington High School.
