Since the soccer season started in December, the varsity boys have been putting long hours into practicing. The boys have been hoping to win district and are making their way to that goal. They are currently fighting for one of the two spots left for playoffs; they’re in third place and seem very capable of making it.
So far into the season, the varsity boys team has won eight out of 23 games with three ties. On Feb. 7, they beat Fossil Ridge 4-1. View highlights from that game below.
“This was an important game that we needed to win, as Fossil still hadn’t won in district yet,” Coach Besancon said.
They have practice every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday with games on Tuesdays and Fridays. On Wednesdays, they usually work on set pieces and some possession whereas on Monday’s and Thursday’s, the focus is on shooting and competition by playing small sided games.
When asked if any of his players could go into higher skilled soccer, Coach Besancon had some very amenable things to say about his players.
“Yes, we have some that are choosing other avenues, like Carlo Martinez is really looking to pursue kicking along with all his film things he’s been doing,” he said. “We do have some seniors that are capable of playing there. I know that Anish Pachkoti is looking to play at the next level. And a couple of our other seniors could play if they wanted to.”
There are only three games left of district with it ending on March 20. They have a manageable goal of making it to playoffs, but still have some work in order to reach it. Go out and support these Falcons as they work towards their goals.
