In the wake of continued concerns of the spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus, Keller ISD has cancelled all Proms for the Class of 2020.
Previously, Timber Creek’s 2020 Prom had been rescheduled to July 11 in an attempt to see if the spread of the virus would decrease. In an e-mail sent to TCHS parents and students, Principal Michelle Somerhalder announced Keller ISD’s decision.
“Keller ISD has made the difficult decision to cancel all 2020 high school proms,” Somerhalder sent in the e-mail. “We were hopeful and optimistic that we would be able to provide this opportunity to our seniors. Unfortunately, as we move closer to the dates of these events, our state and local health officials have given no indication that there will be a reduction in the social distancing guidelines that would be necessary to host an event such as a prom in the foreseeable future.”
Students that had purchased prom tickets on the Web Store or through the Senior Activity Cards will be automatically issued refunds. Checks will be mailed to the address listed from the credit card payment made on the Web Store. The district asks those expecting a refund to wait several weeks for processing and delivery of the checks.
