Timber Creek High School will administer the PSAT for all 10th and 11th grade students on October 13, 2021, with an option for 9th graders to sign up for a small fee.
In a letter sent August 27, Timber Creek administrators said the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying (PSAT) test will be given for free to all current 10th and 11th graders in Keller ISD. All those students will participate in the exam and the district is covering the cost. However, if 9th grade students would like to take the test, they can pay a $18 fee before 4 p.m. on Sept. 13, 2021.
For freshman wanting to take the test, there are multiple ways to pay:
Online: You may pay online at the campus webstore by credit card. There is a service fee for online payments. Find the link here: https://www.kellerisd.net/store
Cash or Check: Students may pay with cash or by check in person in the North Office at TCHS. Students will be able to give the exact amount ($18) to Campus Accountant Sharon Danielson between 7:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. any day through Sept. 13.
The PSAT is a standardized test that provides first-hand practice for the SAT. The PSAT/NMSQT has three parts: Reading, Math, and Writing & Language. The most common reasons for students take the PSAT/NMSQT are to: help assess skills necessary for college-level work, prepare for the SAT, and enter competitions for National Scholarships (junior year), and receive information from colleges.
Sample questions and practice items can be found at the following link. This will give you a look at the
test layout. https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt-psat-10/practice. Student testing
guides will be distributed in classes as soon as they arrive on campus.
More details about test day, including room assignments will be sent out the week prior to the test and
posted here on the Talon.
