On Jan. 15, 2022, the varsity girls soccer team defeated Flower Mound High School by a final score of 2-1. The match took place in the Allison Horn tournament campaign at Colleyville Heritage High School as a part of the team’s pre-district campaign. In the frigid cold weather, the Falcons pushed through to defeat last year’s state champions.
The first half went well for the Falcons, who took a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal from senior, Taylor Ballew. The second half was a bit rough for the Falcons, who although allowed a score, were able to secure the win thanks to a goal from freshman Natalie Singleton.
“It was so important for confidence and for chemistry as a team,” said senior Riley Stern. “It brought us so much closer and it put some belief in us. I think we were all kind of doubtful going into the game because they won state last year. It was really good for our confidence.”
The team begins district play on January 28 at 7:30 p.m. vs Fossil Ridge. The game is located at the Timber Creek Stadium and is the team’s senior night.
