Junior Courtney Wittrock, has taken up the challenge of making change by starting a charity aimed at helping the homeless population in the Fort Worth area.
After going on a mission trip with her church over spring break where they helped homeless people in Albuquerque, NM, Wittrock felt inspired to take similar action at home. She got together a group of her peers and they got to work creating bags filled with basic necessities for the homeless.
Wittrock has been overwhelmed by the kindness of others through the donations of supplies that are necessary to make these bags a possibility.
“It’s been really incredible to see peoples generosity, this has turned into something much larger than I had anticipated and it’s been absolutely amazing to be a part of,” said Wittrock.
This past weekend, Wittrock and her group of peers were able to pack over 90 backpacks with supplies. She has the hope of growing this charity to have a positive impact on as many people that she can reach.
“My long term goal is to be able to reach as many people as possible and help in little ways,” said Wittrock.
The group appreciates all of the donations that they receive. They have an Amazon wishlist which contains all the materials that they need.
They can be found on Facebook as Blessing Bags, Instagram as @blessingbags_01 , and TikTok as @blessingbags01 .
