On Saturday, Sept. 24, the Timber Creek Swim and Dive team hopes to cause a splash at their first meet of the season. Beginning at 9 a.m. and taking place at the Keller Natatorium, tickets are $6 for students and $8 for adults. With all 44 of the team’s athletes competing against other schools from our district (Grapevine, Northwest, Birdville ISD), Coach Ashley Knapp hopes to see the team this year make it to regions, and possibly state.
‘We have a really strong and dedicated group of athletes this year, who have started off the season great,” Coach Knapp said.
With the new district alignments, the team is looking towards qualifying for regional competitions and possibly state, hoping to once again break the school’s personal records as they did in previous years.
“Last year was one of our most successful years as a team… I think we will see some teams records broken this year, and see several athletes at Regionals. Qualifying for state would be a huge accomplishment for our athletes as it is so difficult, but not out of our reach,” Knapp commented.
Last year the team advanced all the way to their regional competition, and hope to advance even further this year.
The meet will be full of friendly yet fierce competition, since it’s a starting point to estimate how well the team is going to do this season. For weekly announcements and other news pertaining to the swim team’s events, students can follow @TCHSSwimandDive or @coachknapp2 on twitter.
