The student leaders at Timber Creek are always under pressure, no matter their position. Between Student Council officers and class officers their job description is not all can handle. Some would say that it takes a specific kind of person to have a student leader position in their high school.  All of the officers want the best for their classmates – they want to make high school memorable for everyone that walks into Timber Creek.

Every student is told that senior year is the best year of grade school. During senior year, students can expect to leave school early, sit in the front row of the bleachers during football games, have their own parking spot, take random electives they do not really need, apply to college, go to prom and graduate. Senior year is already special enough, but Senior Class officers have the mindset on going above and beyond to make it even better.

“There are always so many things going on senior year. Events that you have to make, classes you have to pass and seat time a student has to complete in order to graduate – it’s so easy to get caught up in it all. Then you look and realize you’re weeks away from graduating. I think that it is so important to create new memories with the senior class. Memories that give them a mental break from all of the chaos around us. These memories are things that we can hang on to and remember when we are all growing up and learning to adult,” commented Senior Class President, Kenzie Magee.

Senior Class officers work all year towards an event that their peers have been looking forward to since freshman year: prom. Their main focus is fundraising from August to May to put as much money into their class account as possible to have a spectacular prom.

“This year was no doubt the most insane whirlwind of events. There were nights where we were up all night to make sure everything was perfect – whether that be decorations or a simple tweet. We wanted to make sure everything we envisioned was to serve our school and class the best way possible. Our number one goal has always been making sure we were giving the senior class the best experience yet,” commented Senior Class Vice-President Brianna Mendez.

The senior class officers want to maintain a positive atmosphere for their class. While they have to fundraise for prom in May, they also wanted to make a memorable senior year through events. This year a new event was introduced to the senior class, Senior Sunrise. The event was to kick off senior year by eating breakfast and watching the sunrise with their classmates. By improving class camaraderie, senior year would be a year to remember before they embark on adulthood.

With a memorable year quickly coming to an end, there is a lot to look back on for the senior class officers. The dedication for their peers displayed their selflessness during their senior year while making memories to look back when they are adults.

“While working all year, we’ve learned that our senior class is full of amazingly creative, kind and fun people who are always willing to help,” said Mendez. “The teachers and staff here at Timber Creek are genuinely magnificent people. This amazing year would not have been possible if it weren’t for the outpouring enthusiasm and buy in from every member of Timber Creek.”
