What began as only a student media experiment, the Timber Creek Radio has now flourished into a fully functioning station.

The station, TCFM, was created in October of 2017 and has recently relaunched with an updated order of business. With more experience and a steady rhythm, the Radio Broadcasting students are now striving for a more live and active radio, all without missing a beat.

TCFM features a wide variety of music to please the foot tapping indie fans and the keen ears of jazz enthusiasts. However, the station does not stop there. The basis of the program includes student-run talk shows, sports podcasts, movie reviews, and more.

“As the year goes on,” Lucas Swearingen, Radio Producer, describes, “we want to form the radio station around what the students want.”

The public can access the program by web (click here) or on the Timber Creek Student Radio app, available on most phones and devices.

This station is suited for listeners of all tastes.

“TCFM is definitely student-oriented and good for teachers to play in classrooms,” Hannah Krogsgaard, Radio Manager, explains. “It has a good mixture of songs that are school appropriate and just in general good for everyone to listen to.”

Song suggestions can be made by either liking/disliking songs while it is streaming in the app, or by submitting the song via MP3 or CD. Purchased songs or pieces that are created originally by a student are also accepted and encouraged.

Tune into the 24/7 radio broadcast and support the students who apply hours in and out of the recording booth to this project for the student body.

“The more people we get to listen and the more people who reply to it and respond to it, the better the station will be. [TCFM] is like a moving object, basically,” Krogsgaard illustrates. “[The more] people who get into the movement, those putting it together or listening to it, will only help us improve.”
