Rugby Returns For Girls and Guys

Rugby Club was one of the most successful clubs of the 2016-2017 school year, and it will return for the 2017-18 school year with an introductory meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 5.

The meeting will be held in A 126 after school. The meeting and Club are open to all students, no experience required. There will also be an opportunity for girls to participate this year.

Victoria Ramos, Captain of the Women’s Rugby Team this year, said, “There are no starting positions yet except for captains, but Rugby is open to girls as well this year, not just guys.” As for Captains, Robert Moore will be taking the place of Josh Foster as guys captain.

The meeting itself will go over rules of the game for new players, cover practices and practice times, as well as acquire contact information between players. Their first practice is Sept. 18.

“The team wants to have about three days during the week for practices, because they only met once a week during the weekend last year,” said Sponsor Jake Miller. “The actual season doesn’t start until December, so [until then] practices will be only two-hand touch,” Miller said.

Practice dates will be given the day of the meeting, and uniforms will (until further notice) be reused from last year.

Hi! My name's Mason Howard, reporter for the Talon, and a sophomore here at Timber Creek. I'm a big fan of the work here at Talon, and as a Nalon (New Talon Reporter), I can't wait to get started. I love writing, and drawing has recently peaked my interest. I play COD: BO3, and some Overwatch (I main Soldier 76). I also play some RPG's, and I'm a big fan of anime, and the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game.
